A content area in BlackBoard is a method of categorizing the content of your course. It should hold syllabi, quizzes, lecture slides, etc. All content areas are shown in the red box on the left side of a BlackBoard course.
Change Edit Mode to On

- Locate the edit mode switch in the top right corner of your screen.
- Click it to switch to ON
Add Content Area

Click the plus icon in the top left corner
Name the Content Area

- Type in whatever name you would like for this area.
- Click Submit
Place Content Area

Click and Drag the Arrows on the left side of the Navigator to move your new content area to an appropriate location.
You will need to hover over a content area to see the arrows.
Success!
This content area will not visible to students until you have added and published content in the content area. See our instructions for building content.
