Google Drive Desktop Application Download - Mac

You can download the Google Drive desktop application, which allows you to sync your files with Google Drive. You can also download the Google Drive App for your other devices (phones, iPads, tablets) and sync your files across your devices.

Follow the steps below to download and install the Google Drive desktop application for Mac. If you are using Windows, please see our instructions on how to Download and Install Google Drive Application - Windows.

For these instructions, please log in to your Gmail account. If you do not know how to log in to your Gmail account, please see our instructions on how to Access Google Apps.

Drive Settings

  1. Click the Settings icon in the top right corner.
  2. Click Download Drive

Select Your Operating System

  • Click the Download button. Google Drive should automatically detect the operating system.


Agree and Download

  • Agree to the Terms and Conditions by click Agree and Download.

Choose Install Location

  • Choose the install location. Desktop is recommended.

Click the Downloaded File

  • Click on the downloaded file in your web browser's downloads bar to open and run the program.

Drag Drive to Applications

  • Click and drag the Google Drive Application icon to the Applications folder.

Find Google Drive in Finder

  1. In Finder, navigate to Applications
  2. Double-Click Google Drive to open it

Open Google Drive

  • Click Open

Get Started

  • Click the Get Started button in the bottom right corner.

Sign In to Google Drive

  1. Enter your OC email address
  2. Click Next

Log In to OC

  1. Enter your OC username
  2. Enter your OC password
  3. Click Log In

Google Drive Folder

  1. Locate the Google Drive Folder
  2. Click Next

Google Drive App

  1. View information about the mobile Google Drive App
  2. Click Next

Sharing Information

  1. View information about sharing data
  2. Click Next


  1. Click Done

Tool Bar Access

  • You can click the Google Drive icon in your tool bar for easy access.
