Wii: Wireless Connection Troubleshooting

My Wii is not connecting to OC's network. What can I do?

Setup Manually

Nintendo has a decent walk-through on their support page. The link for that walk-through is below.

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/connectingOnline.jsp

When you first click on the link it will ask you a series of questions to determine the best solution.

Use the following answers to get to the Manual Setup walk-through:

  • Yes, I have high-speed Internet
  • I would like to use my wireless router
  • Continue using the 'Manual Setup' feature (for more complex set-ups)

Once you are at the walk-through, follow the steps until you get to step 8. You will need to pay special attention during step 8. When you get to Type of Security, do not select anything. Move on to the next part of step 8, Auto-Obtain an IP address and Auto-Obtain DNS. For both of these parts of step 8, select Yes.

At this point you have finished setting up the wireless connection to work with our network. Go ahead and move to step 9 on the walk-through and finish the walk-through.

If you receive an error code at the end of the walk-through, go to the follow link and type in the error code.

If the General Troubleshooting that Nintendo recommends does not help solve the problem or the troubleshooting recommends adjusting your wireless router, please contact Support Central at 405-425-5555 or supportCentral@oc.edu.

More troubleshooting

If you have already manually set-up a wireless connection for your Wii, try the following:

  • Select the wireless connection that you created.
  • Select Clear Settings.
  • Select Wireless Connection
  • Select Manual Set-up
  • For the SSID, type in eaglesnet
  • Select Save
  • Select OK on the next two screens
  • At this point you have successfully set-up the wireless connection of your Wii to work with our network.
  • If you receive an error code, go to the follow link and type in the error code.
  • If the General Troubleshooting that Nintendo recommends does not help solve the problem or the troubleshooting recommends adjusting your wireless router, please contact Support Central at 405-425-5555 or supportCentral@oc.edu.

Please let us know if we need to make changes to this solution.
