Respondus Lockdown Browser - Windows 7 Install

LockDown Browser can be used to give BlackBoard tests while preventing students from accessing other resources on their computers, such as Word documents (with notes), web pages, chat programs, etc. Please use these instructions to install Respondus Lockdown Browser on your PC.

This program is only available for certain users due to licensing agreements. If you do not have access and believe you should have access to this program, please contact Support Central.

Go to Web Page for Download

  2. Click on the Download Link

Install from the Web Page

  • Click Install Now

Run the File

Run the File
  • Click Run to run the install file

Begin the Installation

Click "LockDown Browser" to Begin the Installation
  • Click the LockDown Browser Button

Allow the Program to Make Changes

Click "Yes" to Allow the Program to Install on Your Computer
  • Click Yes

Select Language

Select Language
  1. Select English as your language. (or choose the language that will be easiest for you to understand)
  2. Click Next

Wait for the Install to Prepare

Wait for the Install to Prepare (May Take a Few Minutes)

This may take several minutes.

Start the Install Set Up

Click "Next"
  • Click Next

Accept the Terms

Accept the Terms
  1. Select I accept the terms of the license agreement
  2. Click Next

Confirm the Location of the File

Click "Next" to Confirm the Destination Location of the File
  • Click Next

Start the Installation Process

Click "Install"
  • Click Install

Wait for the Installer to Complete

Wait for the Installer to Complete (May Take a Few Minutes)

This may take several minutes.

Finish the Install

Click "Finish"
  • Click Finish


  • You have successfully installed Lockdown Browser on your windows computer. The Lockdown Browser icon should appear pn your desktop. If it does not, look in your programs folder.
