Add Multiple Signatures to Email - Gmail

This answer gives instructions on how to save multiple signatures for uses at different times.

For these instructions, please log in to your Gmail account. If you do not know how to log in to your OC email account, please see our instructions on how to Access Google Apps.

Enable Canned Responses

Go to Mail Settings

Go to the Mail Settings by clicking the Gear in the upper right hand corner.
  1. Click the settings gear in the top right corner.
  2. Click Settings

Go to Labs

Select "Labs".
  • Click the Labs tab at the top of your screen

Enable Canned Responses

Select "Enable" for the "Canned Responses" lab.
  1. Scroll down to the lab titled Canned Responses
  2. Click Enable

Save Changes

  • Select Save Changes at the top or bottom of the page.

Create a Signature


Select "Compose".
  • Click the Compose button in the top left corner of your screen.

Create Signature

  • In the body of the email, type what you would like your signature to be.

Access Canned Response Options

  1. Click the down arrow in the bottom right corner of the message box.
  2. Click Canned Responses

Add New Canned Response

  • Click New Canned Response

Name New Response

  1. Type in the name for this particular signature
  2. Click OK

Repeat this process as many times as you would like to create numerous responses/signatures.

Add Signature to Message

Create Email

  • Create your email the way you normally would. If you do not know how to create an email, please see our instructions on how to Compose New Email Messages.

Choose Signature Location

  • Place cursor where you would like your signature to go, and click.
  • The author above has chosen the end of their message

Add Signature

  1. Click the drop down arrow in the bottom right corner of the message box
  2. Click Canned Responses
  3. Under the Insert section, choose which signature you would like to add.

Repeat this process to insert multiple signatures into one email.


You have successfully, enabled, created, and inserted multiple signatures into your email.
