Save Windows 7 or 8 to USB For Use on a Mac

If you have a MacBook and want to download the Windows software, you must burn Windows 7 or Windows 8 to USB or DVD through Boot Camp Assistant.  This will ensure the proper drivers are saved with the software.

If you have not downloaded the software you are licensed to yet, you can download it here:

http://www.oc.edu/services/it/support-central/downloads.html

Once the software is downloaded, you will want to burn it to a CD, DVD or Flash Drive for possible future use.

 

Open Boot Camp Assistant

From Spotlight, Search for and open Boot Camp Assistant.

Click "Continue"

Create Install Disk

  1. Select "Create a Windows 7or later version install disk."
  2. Select "Continue."

 

Save Windows to USB

  1. Click "Choose..."
  2. Find the Windows file that you have downloaded. (It should end with the extension ".iso")
  3. Click "Continue."

Wait

Wait

Wait while the files are transferred to your removable media.

Add the Helper Tool

Add the Helper Tool

Enter the admin username and password for your computer to grant access to add the helper tool

Finish

Finish

Press Quit to complete the process.
