There are multiple ways to switch between Mac and Windows on your Apple Computer. You can go from Windows to Mac, Mac to Windows, or switch with restarting your computer.

Windows to Mac
These images are from the Windows 7 interface. The steps are the same for the Windows 10 operating system, however, your screen may look a little different.
Boot Camp
Click on the Boot Camp icon.
NOTE: It will be in the shape of a black diamond.
Restart in macOS
Click Restart in OS X...
Success!
You have successfully switched from Windows to Mac. If this option did not work for you, please see the Switch with Restart portion of our answer.
Mac to Windows
System Preferences
Click the System Preferences icon to open settings.
Startup Disk
Click Startup Disk from the System Preferences panel.
Restart in Windows
- Click Windows
- Click Restart...

Switch with Restart
Please read all of these instructions BEFORE attempting to restart your computer.
Restart Your Computer

Option Key
After you have clicked Restart, hold down one of the options key until a grey screen shows on your computer.
Choose the Desired Operating System
Double-click on the operating system you would like to use.
If you would like your computer to always boot into a particular operating system, follow the instructions below:
- Click the partition you would like. Only click once to select it.
- Hold down the Control key on your computer. The arrow below the icon will turn into a circular arrow.
- While holding the control key, double-click the partition.
- Your computer will restart in that operating system and will always restart in that operating system. To switch operating systems, simply follow these instructions again.
Padlock Screen
After restarting your computer holding down the option key, you may see a padlock. If this is the case, please bring your computer to Support Central so we can safely remove the firmware password for you.
