How to Create a Turnitin Assignment in Blackboard

Blackboard shell account
In the Blackboard course, go to the Content Area (ie Course Content) where you want the assignment.
Be sure Edit Mode is ON for your course.
Click on the Assessments button.
Scroll down and click on the Turnitin Assignment button.
You may need to AGREE to a user statement then Select the assignment type
and click the “Next Step” button.
Add a title and point value to the assignment and make sure the Allow only file types that Turnitin can check for similarity box is checked.
Ensure the start date and due date are correct.
Make any necessary changes to the post date. (The Post date is the day the grade becomes visible to students)
Scroll down and click the drop-down button for the Optional Settings menu.
Enter special instructions if there are any.
Allow submissions after the due date? yes or no?
Generate Similarity Reports for submissions? yes or no?
Generate Similarity Reports for student submission selection.
The immediate first report is FINAL.
Immediate (can overwrite reports until the due date).
On Due Date.
Exclude bibliographic materials from Similarity Index for all papers in this assignment? yes or no?
Exclude quoted materials from Similarity Index for all papers in this assignment?
yes or no?
Exclude small sources? yes or no?
Allow students to see Similarity Reports? yes or no?
Reveal grades to students only on the post date? yes or no?
Enable anonymous marking? yes or no?
Submit papers to:
Standard Paper Repository.
Institution Paper Repository.
Student’s choice of Repository.
Student paper repository
Institution paper repository
Current and archived internet
Periodicals, journals, & publications
Attach a rubric/form to this assignment Note: students will be able to view the attached rubric/form and its content prior to submitting.
Launch Rubric/Form Manager
Enable grammar checking using e-rater® technology? yes or no?
Check the box for “Would you like to save these options as your defaults for future assignments?” if these are settings you would like to keep.
The assignment should now be added to the course content section of your Blackboard course.
