Dialing/Faxing Instructions for Faculty/Staff
Information
IT Services uses AT&T for long distance service. All current users have unique Account Code to place long distance calls from the campus phone system. You will need to dial 9 first to get an outside line and 1 to start the long distance number. After dialing the area code and phone number, a voice will prompt you for the Account Code followed by the pound "#" key.
To use a Budget Number for a long distance fax, put 9+1+area code+number into the fax machine. Then, select the pause button twice. Finally, put in the Account Code and the "#".
University provided calling cards can be used for long distance while off campus. To dial long distance, you should follow the instructions given with the card or on the back of the card.

Fax Instructions
Faxing is similar to calling but to wait for the Account Code prompt you will need to place a pause (represented by a comma "," and usually lasts 3 seconds) once or twice after the number (right before the Account Code) in order for the phone number to be dialed correctly. Most fax machines support this pause function. You might need to check the documentation you received with the fax machine or contact the helpdesk for further assistance.
