Customize Gmail messages with rich formatting, add color to your greetings, underline key points, or make your words bold. For these instructions, please log in to your Gmail account. Formatting Toolbar

Use the icons in the formatting tool bar at the bottom of the message box to format and style your email message.
Formatting Options
Highlight the Text

Click and drag over the text to highlight it.
Select Font

- Click the Font box in the toolbar.
- Choose the font you would like to use.
The checked font is the font currently in use.
Success!
Highlight the Text

- Click and drag over the text to highlight it.
Select Text Size

- Click the Text Size icon
- Choose the size you would like your text to be.
The checked size is the one currently in use.

Highlight the Text

Click and drag over the text to highlight it.
Select Style

Click the style you would like to use. An example of each style is shown below.
- Bold
- Italicized
- Underlined
You can use any combination of these styles at once.

Click and drag over the text to highlight it.
Select Color

- Click the Text Color icon in the toolbar.
- Choose your background color. (White is most common)
- Choose your text color. (Black is most common)
The checked colors are the ones currently in use.

Click and drag over the text to highlight it.
Select Alignment

- Click the Alignment icon in the toolbar.
- Choose text alignment. (Left is most common)

Click and drag over the text to highlight it.
Select List Type

- To do a numbered list, click the Numbered List icon.
- To do a bulleted list, click the Bulleted List icon.
- To create a list hierarchy, choose which direction you would like to indent a particular bullet/number.

The quotation symbol in the "Formatting options" section sets all of the text to the right, similar to pressing the "tab" key, and sets a solid vertical line to the left of all of the text. Gmail will use the quotation formatting automatically any time you forward or reply to an email.
Highlight the Text

Click and drag over the text to highlight it.
Select Quotation Symbol

Click on the quotation symbol.
Success!
You have successfully added quotation effects to your email.
Highlight the Text

Click and drag over the text to highlight it.
Select Remove Formatting Icon

- Click on the Remove Formatting icon in the toolbar.
- This will remove all of the formatting and set all formatting option to the default.
