IMAP allows the user to archive their email on their computer or device while having a backup stored on a remote server. IMAP also allows for seamless synchronization of read, archived, and deleted messages across all devices. For these instructions, please log in to your Gmail account.
Navigate to Settings
- Click the Settings icon in the top right corner of your screen.
- Click Settings
Forwarding and POP/IMAP
Click on the tab labeled Forwarding and POP/IMAP
Enable IMAP
- Select Enable IMAP
- Click Save Changes
