FERPA requires that we gain permission from a student before we speak to a third party about their status as a student. Before speaking with a third party about a student, please use the instructions below to review the access they have granted for individual third parties.
Log on to myOC
- Log on to my.oc.edu.
- Open the main menu by clicking on the icon with the three lines in the upper right-hand corner.
Search for Student
- Search for the student for whom you'd like to check permissions.
- Click on the name of the student to open their record.
View FERPA Permissions
Scroll to the bottom of the list. Each proxy to whom the student has granted access will be listed with the list of the offices who can speak with those individuals listed as well. In the example above, there are two individuals who can each speak with employees in Financial Services.
So, in this example, Student Life, Faculty, Registrar, etc. do not have permissions to speak with the proxies about the student.
