Microsoft Office 2019 - Install on Windows 10

  • Please note that you must be on campus or connected to OC via VPN in order to install this program using these instructions.
  • If you are off campus and don't want to connect via VPN you can install from Office 365
  • Before you install Office 2019, you must first uninstall older verions of Office
Uninstall Older Versions of Microsoft Office

If you have an older version of Microsoft Office, you will need to uninstall it before installing Microsoft Office 2016. Please the Microsoft Office Support Page for instructions.

Connect to VPN

If you are off campus, you must connect to OC via VPN to install this software.  Please note that the download is large.

Connect to the Server

  1. Type the following into the search bar: \\software.oc.edu\dist\microsoft\office
  2. Click the resulting file folder

If you are prompted for your username and password, you'll need to put OC\ in front of your username:

ex: OC\user.name

Open the 2019 Folder

Double-click on the folder named 2016

Open the Microsoft Office 2019 .zip file

Double-click the folder labeled Microsoft Office 2019

Confirm the Windows Security message

Click OK

Open the Folder

Double-click on the Microsoft Office 2019 folder

Run the Install file

Double-click on Office 2019 Install

Extract all files

Click the Extract all button on the Compressed Folders window

Select a Destination

  1. Click on Browse
  2. Select Desktop
  3. Click Select Folder
  4. Click Extract

Open the Extracted file

Double-click the Microsoft Office 2019 folder

Run the Install file

Double-click the Office 2019 Install file

Confirm User Account Control

Wait for the installation to complete

After you click on the Install file, a command (cmd) window will open and begin the Office installation in the background. You will not see the installation process taking place.

The window will close when the installation is complete.

This could take several minutes. Make sure your computer is fully charged or plugged in. If your computer shuts down during the installation, the programs could become corrupted.
