Ingredients:
- Skype app installed and logged in
- Microphone (built-in mic is fine, but external headset mic is recommended)
- Webcam (built-in webcam is sufficient)
- Speakers (built-in speakers are sufficient)
Directions:
Mac
Open Skype and log in if necessary.
Click the “Skype” menu and select “Preferences” (or press ⌘,)
Click the Audio/Video button on the top of the preference window.

Make appropriate selections for:
Microphone (built-in or external)
Ringing & Speakers (built-in or external)
Adjust volume with the slider
Camera (built-in or external)
Make a voice call to Skype’s test call service (SkypeID: echo123) to check your sound.
- If audio or video is not working, run the troubleshooter.

Audio
- Under the Tools menu, choose Options…
- On the options window, choose “Audio Settings.”
- Make appropriate selections for:
- Microphone (built-in or external)
Ringing & Speakers (built-in or external)
Adjust volume with the slider
- Make a voice call to Skype’s test call service (SkypeID: echo123) to check your sound.
- If audio is not functioning properly, run the troubleshooter.
Video
Under the Tools menu, choose Options…
Under General on the options window, choose “Video Settings.”
If you do not see your video, run the troubleshooter.
