Step 1: Open Google Chrome and click on the colored circle in the upper right hand corner.
Step 2: Ensure that the email address listed here is your student OC email address. If it is not your OC email address (ending in either @eagles.oc.edu or @oc.edu), there are two easy ways to login to the correct one. Method one starts below in Step 3, and method two starts below in Step 6.
Step 3: Check the list of available other profiles to see if your OC student profile is there. If it is, click on it and sign in. You are now ready to access a Google Doc that has been shared by your professor.
Step 4: If your OC student profile is not listed, then click on the "+ ADD" button at the button of the pop-up.
Step 5: Once you click "+ Add" a new pop-up window will open as shown below. Sign in to your OC student profile.
The other way (steps 6-8) to sign into the correct Google Chrome profile is simply by opening a new Google Chrome browser and signing in.
Step 6: Right click on the Chrome Browser icon in your toolbar.
Step 7: Select Google Chrome.
Step 8: Either select your OC student profile if you've signed in before, or click "Add." Clicking "Add" should take you to the same sign-in window that is shown in Step 5 above.
Once you are logged into the correct Chrome profile, navigate to the place where the document was shared. Most commonly, professors share Google Docs through email or through a course in Blackboard. Click on the specified link and then you will be able to access the shared document. (For this example, we named our document CLICK ME.)
If you continue to encounter a screen resembling the one shown below - if you are denied access to the shared document - please carefully review the steps above. It is essential to ensure that you are using the correct profile. If you are unable to access the document, it indicates that you are not currently logged into the appropriate profile. Please double-check and ensure that you are signed in with the correct student email profile as outlined above.
However, in some cases, your instructors may have the wrong settings on their documents, which means none of the steps above will help you access the document. In these rare situations, your instructors needs to hear from you so they can adjust their document settings.
If you have attempted the recommendations above and still have trouble, reach out to your instructor asking if he or she would double-check the document settings. If your instructor verifies the settings are open for all OC users, then reach out to Support Central for further assistance.
