These instructions describe how to install the Synoptix client on a user workstation and configure it to pull data from the Financial Data Mart.
This program is only available for certain users due to licensing agreements. If you do not have access and believe you should have access to this program, please contact Support Central.
Open the Synoptix Folder

- Double click on the Synoptix folder.
Open Version 7

- Double click on the 7 folder
Open the Windows Folder

- Double click on Windows
Open the Installer

- Double click on the ellucian_syn_install64 application.
Allow Changes to be Made

- Click Yes if the "User Account Control" dialogue appears.
Allow Install to Set Up

This may take several minutes.
Set Up Install Settings

- Click Next
Confirm Install Location

- Click Next.
Choose Icon Location

- Select In a new Program Group
- Click Next
Start Installation

- Click Install
Allow Installer to Load

This may take several minutes.
Installation Complete

- Click Done
Please continue to all of the steps below to properly set up Synoptix for the first time you log in.
First Time Set Up

- Click the Start button
- Open Synoptix
Go Through Set Up Wizard

- Click Next
Enter Profile Information

- In the Name field, enter Your Name.
- In the Company field, enter Oklahoma Christian University.
- In the Address field, enter PO Box 11000, Oklahoma City, OK 73136
- Click Next
Set Up Number Formats

- Configure number formats to your preference. The settings above are the most common.
- Click Next
Retrieve Install Information

- Go to \\software\dist\Compusoft\Synoptix from the Start search bar
- Double click on the InstallationInformation text document
Database Server Set Up

- Enter the Server
- Enter the Port#
- Enter the CompuSoft Database Container Name
- Enter the Username
- Enter the Password
- Click Next
Connection Successful

- Click OK
Finish Set Up

- Click FInish
Restart Synoptix

- Click OK and restart Synoptix.
First Time Using Synoptix
When you open Synoptix back up, you will be prompted with a login screen. Use the username and password that was assigned to you. This will NOT be the same as your network login information.
Run Updates

- You will be prompted that some configuration files need to be modified. Click OK.
Allow Changes

- Click Yes to allow the program to make changes to the computer.
Configuration Changed

Click OK
Change the Memory Allocations

- Click Admin
Configure Maximum Memory

- Change the 199 to 550 for the "Maximum memory used by Synoptix for Datatel."
- Select OK
Launch Update Process

- Click OK
Allow Changes

- Click Yes
Configuration Changed

- Click Ok
- Close Out of Synoptix
Success!
- You have successfully downloaded, installed, and configured Synoptix.
