- In Respondus, select Retrieval + Reports
- Select the Retrieve Questions tab and click Retrieve Questions.

3. Retrieve the exam from your Blackboard course and give it a name.

4. Go to Settings.
5. In the Random Blocks tab, click Random Blocks.
5. Click the radio button to the left of Modify or Delete Existing Set:.
6. Click the drop down to the right of Modify or Delete Existing Set:.
7. If random sets for your exam already exist and you are satisfied with them, skip to step 20.
8. If your exam does not currently have any random sets, skip to step 13.

9. To delete an undesired set, select the set you wish to delete in the drop down to the right of Modify or Delete Existing Set:.
10. Click the Delete Set button.
11. Repeat for all sets you wish to delete.

12. To add a new set, select the radio button next to Add New Set.
13. Enter the number of the first question to be added to the set in the first text field
14. Enter the number of the last question to be added to the set in the second text field
15. Click the radio button next to “Select Number:” and enter into the text field next to it the total number of questions you want to be included from that set.
16. In the fourth text field, enter the point value that will be used for every question in the set.
17. Then, click the Add New Set button

18. Repeat steps 13 through 18 for all random sets you would like to add.
19. Click Preview + Publish at the top of the window and select the Print Options tab
20. In the drop down menu next to “3. Randomize Questions”, select one of the random variations. Each variation is a different possible set of questions using the random sets you have already set up. Try them out to get variations that you like.
21. Then, check the checkbox next to “Apply Random Blocks from Settings”
22. Finally, click “Print Preview” to verify the changes

23. To save the exam to a file, click the radio button next to “Exam” under “1. Select Format:”
24. Click the “Save to File” button at the bottom
25. In the new window, give the file a name and select where it will be saved to
26. Click the “Save” button

27. To save the exam key to a file, click the radio button next to “Answer Key only” under “1. Select Format:”
28. Then click the “Save to File” button at the bottom
29. In the new window, give the file a name and select where it will be saved to
30. Click the “Save” button
