This answer assumes you are adding a hyperlink to an item in Blackboard. This answer contains the following steps:
Change Edit Mode to On

- Locate the edit mode switch in the top right corner of your screen.
- Click it to switch to ON
Choose Item Location

Access a content area, learning module, lesson plan, or folder.
Build Content

- On the action bar, point to Build Content to access the drop-down list.
- Click Item.
Name the Item

On the Create Item page, name the item you are uploading.
Add Text with Hyperlink

- In the text box of the item, type the text that you want to make into a clickable link. For example, Click here to open the Web page you need to see for the upcoming assignment.
- Highlight the text you want to become clickable by click and dragging over the text.
- Click the hyperlink icon (chain link)
Copy/Paste the Web Link
- In the Link Path text box, type (or paste) the Web address (a.k.a., url). E.g., http://thefaqs.net/post/google-drive-quick-tips-5
- Choose Open in a New Window (_blank) from the Target drop-down list.
- (opt.) In the Title text box, type a descriptive text (e.g., “necessary file”). This will be the little tool tip that displays when one hovers their mouse cursor over the link.
- Ignore the Class box. (it is not set up in our system)
- Click Insert
Submit Item

- Double-check to make sure the rest of your item is complete.
- Click Submit
Success!
You have successfully embedded a hyperlink into a Blackboard item.
