Completing a course copy is helpful if you need content from a course duplicated in another course, whether that be a sandbox course or a course that is coming up.
Ingredients for this Recipe:
- Working computer
- Internet Access
- Enrolled as an instructor in the relevant Blackboard Courses
Step 1: Make sure you are an instructor in the course you are copying from as well as in the course you are copying to.
Step 2: Go to the course you intend to copy and scroll down to 'Course Management', which is in the left hand menu. From there find the tab labeled 'Packages and Utilities'.
Step 3: From Packages and Utilities select 'Course Copy.'
Step 4: Change the copy type to: 'Copy Course Materials into an Existing Course'.
Step 5: In the search bar, input the Course ID of the course you wish to copy OR click 'Browse...' where a list of your courses will be located.
Step 6: Select the course materials you want to be copied into the Destination Course.
Note:
- For Discussion boards, if you want to keep initial comments but remove the replies to those comments, select Include Starter Posts For Each Thread in Forum [See photo below]. This is helpful when an instructor posts the first comments and has students reply to their initial posts.
- If you have assignments in your course, and you want to copy them over, you will need to select all Content Areas and Grade Center Column and Settings [See photo below]. Assignments need to have a corresponding place in the Gradebook in order to be functional in the new course.
Step 7: After all the wanted course materials are selected. Scroll down and click on 'Submit'. Your course copy will queue and complete in only a few seconds!
Celebrate! You have successfully performed your own course copy.
