This recipe can be useful if you make videos on Youtube for your classes. Adding captions can help students with hearing issues to be able to understand your lectures better.
Recipe Ingredients:
- Working computer
- Internet
- Youtube account
Step 1: Log into your Youtube account and go to Youtube Studio.
Step 2: Click on Content in the menu on the left side of the screen.
Step 3: Click on the picture of the video you want to add captions to.

Step 4: After clicking on your video you will be brought to Video Details. Below the word "Details," you'll see
a button labeled Subtitles. Click on it.
Step 5: From there, you should see a Set Language drop-down menu.
Step 6: Set the language to English (United States)
Step 7: Then hit CONFIRM
Step 8: After confirming, the page should refresh and the new language you choose should be available to ADD to your video.
Step 9: After clicking ADD you will bring up an editor screen which will give you options on the left side where you can either add subtitles manually or import a transcript.
If you hover over the question marks they go into more detail over each choice.
Tip: If you aren't tech-savvy the best option is Auto-sync
Step 10: After choosing the way you want to add your captions. Add your captions then click PUBLlSH at the top right-hand corner to publish your video.
After that you should have subtitles on your video.
