Students' semester averages at midterm and at term completion are reported to the Registrar's Office in OC's Faculty Tools (facultytools.oc.edu). Instructors who would like to avoid manually entering grades from Blackboard into Faculty Tools will benefit from using the "External Grade" setting for a more automated system.
For COI courses, not only is the external grade shared with OC, it is transferred into a dashboard to assist the mentors in monitoring students' progress.
If you need assistance setting the appropriate column as the "External Grade" so that the grades can transfer automatically, please visit the following article.
Step 1: Open up https://facultytools.oc.edu/Gradebook in a new tab. Once you are there, and if you are signed in to MyOC, you should see the following :
Step 2: Select semester and grading period (midterm grades or final grades) from the drop down menus. This produces a list of your courses.
Step 3: To the right of each course listed, choose between "Transfer Grades" or "Manual Grade Entry."
- Choose "Transfer Grades," if you would like it to pull grades over from your Blackboard course.
Reminder: The Blackboard grade column you want to transfer over will have to be set as the external grade, and the primary display will need to be "Letter." For more information, visit https://support.oc.edu/hc/en-us/articles/360000957986-Grade-Center-Edit-Create-an-External-Grade-Column
- Choose "Manual Grade Entry," if you would like to enter student grades manually. You will need to do this if you have not set up the external column appropriately.
If you need to give a student an Incomplete in the course, be sure to set the date for when the work must be completed. In general, the date is 6 weeks from the completion of the current term. If you need more information about submitting an incomplete grade (or how to submit the actual grade later), instructions are provided in this document.

Step 4: Click "Submit Grades for [x] Students."
