Apple TVs

OC has Apple TVs located in various places throughout campus. With an Apple TV, you can:

  • Mirror or display on the TV screen whatever is on the screen of your Mac/MacBook (OS X Mountain Lion or later), iPhone (4s or later), iPad (2 or later), iPad mini, or iPod touch (5th generation)
  • stream videos or slideshows from your device

Connect to an Apple TV with Your MacBook

  • Make sure that both the Apple TV and your MacBook are on the same OC wireless internet connection. (The Apple TVs on campus are already set up to be on the correct network. You will only need to make sure the Apple TV is on.)
  • Make sure that the TV monitor is set to the correct input (HDMI 1 or HDMI 2, depending on how that specific monitor was set up). You can use the remote to alter the TV's input.

  1. Click on the AirPlay icon at the top right of your screen. (This icon will appear on your screen if you are connected to the same wireless network as an Apple TV.)
  2. Select the Apple TV to which you'd like to connect.

  • Enter the four-digit code that appears on your TV monitor.

  1. Click on the AirPlay icon to display options.
  2. Select this option if you'd like the TV monitor to display exactly what you see on your screen.
  3. Select this option if you'd like to use the TV monitor as an extension of your current screen. 
Connect to an Apple TV with Your iPhone

Select "AirPlay" from  Control Center

To get to the Control Center, you can swipe upward from the bottom of your screen. The AirPlay option will appear on your screen if you are connected to the same wireless network as an Apple TV.

  1. Select the Apple TV to which you'd like to connect.
  2. Turn mirroring on if you'd like the TV monitor to display exactly what you see on your screen. Leave mirroring off if you'd like to use the TV monitor as an extension of your current screen (having it display only certain content, like a video that you are playing).
  3. Tap Done

  • You have successfully connected to an Apple TV.
